Arriving by Car

Most areas in the centre of the city are now included in the Bristol Clean Air Zone. You must pay to drive within the zone if your vehicle does not meet the zone’s emission standards, unless you have an exemption.

All public trips depart from the Bristol Packet Ticket Office on the quayside at Wapping Wharf, Gas Ferry Road, Bristol BS1 6UN.

The closest car park is SS Great Britain Parking. This short stay car park is Pay & Display and does not accept card payments. Payment can be made with cash (COINS ONLY) or via the RingGo app. Maximum stay 5 hours.

To avoid the Clean Air Zone, use the Long Ashton Park and Ride and take the M2 Metro Bus to the SS Great Britain stop (see below).

Private bookings can depart from any landing stage in the Floating Harbour. Please check your booking confirmation to see where your trip is departing from.

There are several car parks close to the Harbour including:

Arriving by Coach

There is good access for coaches to drop off passengers and park close to the Bristol Packet Ticket Office at SS Great Britain Parking. This short stay car park is Pay & Display and does not accept card payments. Payment can be made with cash (COINS ONLY) or via the RingGo app. Maximum stay 5 hours.

There is limited parking available for coaches around the Harbour, but for boat trips from the Watershed Pontoon or City Centre Landing stages, coaches can access Canons Way and Explore Lane (next to Millennium Square Car Park) to drop off and collect their passengers.

For boat trips departing from Temple Meads Landing, it is possible for coaches to avoid the Clean Air Zone and access Avon Street (BS2 0PS) to drop off or pick up their passengers.

Arriving by Bus

All public trips depart from Bristol Packet Ticket Office on the quayside at Wapping Wharf, Gas Ferry Road, Bristol BS1 6UN.

The closest bus stop is the ‘SS Great Britain’ stop (6 minutes walk) which is included on the M2 Metro Bus route. This service runs Monday to Saturday (NOT SUNDAYS) from 07:00 until 20:49. A full timetable and ticket prices can be found on the First Bus website.

There are several bus routes that stop on Broad Quay in the City Centre. This is 15 minutes walk away from Bristol Packet Ticket Office, and is close to the most common departure points for private bookings at the Watershed Pontoon and Welsh Back Landing.

Arriving by Train

The City’s main railway station, Bristol Temple Meads is conveniently located close to the Harbour.

There are several options for getting to Bristol Packet Ticket Office from Temple Meads:

Walking – the journey from Temple Meads to our Ticket Office takes approx. 30 minutes on foot.

Taxi – There is a taxi rank located directly outside the entrance to Temple Meads Station and the journey should take approximately 10 minutes.

Bus – The M2 Metro Bus route stops at Temple Meads before heading to the SS Great Britain stop on Cumberland Road (please see below).

Ferry – The Waterbus stops at Temple Meads Landing and includes a service to the SS Great Britain. See the Waterbus website for the current timetable and prices.

Private Hire bookings can start or finish at Temple Meads Landing which is just a 2 minute walk from the main ticket desks at the front of the station.

Great for special occasions, lots of fun! We had such a fabulous time on the Bagheera boat! There were 21 of us for a Hen Party, and it was a blast. The bar was well stocked, the crew were friendly, there was a microphone for us to use for games, and we could play our own music. Perfect! Booking was really simple, and communication great. Thank you!

Excellent views of the city I went on one of these boats at the end of a self-guided tour of the harbourside. It was absolutely lovely. I'm not great with mobility, but I was helped onto and off the boat. What a good way to see the city!

Must do trip when in Bristol We went on the Avon Gorge tour today 8th September. With Will as our guide,Steve the driver and Joe doing everything else. They were all fabulous and the trip well worth the money. Will was balanced giving out really good information through the trip with humour. Well worth going to the sites from the river and for Neville's commentry The weather was poor but it did not spoil the pleasure of this trip from SS Great Britain to the Bristol Channel. We were treated to an interesting and entertaining commentary from Neville. His knowledge of facts and noteworthy events was superb. But he did not lecture us, it was a delightful 3hrs, thank you Neville.

Cracking Cream Tea We met friends for the 2 hour cream tea cruise. The scones were delicious and quite possibly the best I have ever had. The lemon drizzle cake and chocolate brownie were also full of flavour. It was a great sightseeing tour and a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon, seeing parts of Bristol we may never have see on foot. Our guide was very knowledgeable and engaged well with the passengers. She was interesting, friendly and funny and pointed out many of the moored boats and their history along the way. This trip made our weekend in Bristol even more memorable.

Highly recommend… Wanted to do a boat trip around the harbour with my 8 year old Son and saw the good reviews. So glad we chose this trip- 45 mins around the harbour. Only £15 for both of us. Very interesting and enjoyable. Lovely comfortable boat, friendly crew. Would highly recommend and would do this again.

Fabulous Evening I arranged a 3 hour boat trip for 30+ work colleagues. The crew were excellent: friendly, helpful and fun. We had 2 pub stops to the Grain Barge and Kings Road where we did not feel rushed in any way to get back to the boat. There was plenty of room onboard and plenty of choice at the bar. Everyone had a fantastic time and I’m sure we will have other trips in future. Thank you Bristol Packet Tours!

A perfect afternoon on the water. This 45 minute boat trip is a perfect way to explore Bristol's beautiful and historic harbour. Our hosts George and Archie were fantastic, engaging and knowledgeable. They delivered a perfect tour with great facts and were able to answer our questions and provide a lovely glass of wine. Will definitely be booking the longer pub lunch trip next time we are in Bristol.
